Under head coach Russell Martin, the Saints are dominating in the second division of English football. Following a difficult September, the team has won 16 straight league games and most recently defeated Martin’s old team, Swansea City, to get closer to the automatic promotion spots.

With victories over Leeds United, Ipswich Town, and Leicester City, Southampton’s Boxing Day could not have gone much better. Martin’s team was the only one among the top four to secure a victory.

With the decisive victory over the Welsh team, Southampton surpassed Norwich City and Leeds in the standings for goals scored, ranking third in the Championship this year.

In addition, Martin’s team demonstrated that they are capable of scoring goals without having a weak defense by going three games without giving up a goal and scoring ten, a very impressive result.

However, the manager recently disclosed that Ross Stewart, a summer acquisition, would miss the remainder of the season after making only two appearances overall since moving from Sunderland for £8 million a few months ago.

In addition, it has been suggested that Che Adams, whose contract is slated to expire at the end of the season, may be leaving the team in January.

According to the Daily Record, Martin is eager to capture Aberdeen’s Bojan Miovski during the winter transfer window in order to bolster his goal-scoring lineup.

Despite the fact that Miovski has been playing well for the Scottish team this season—scoring 14 goals in 27 games across all competitions—the site is reporting that Aberdeen needs to receive at least £6.5 million in order to even consider moving him.
