Compared to the 2023 offseason, the Green Bay Packers front office was far busier in 2024.
At this point in the previous season, the Packers had not yet made any significant inroads into the free-agent market and were still
over a month away from dealing Aaron Rodgers.

The Packers made some significant offseason changes after Jordan Love had a fantastic first campaign as the team’s full-time starter at
quarterback. This entails bringing in a fresh defensive coordinator, rearranging their backfield, and securing the services of a top-tier
free agent at safety.
The bar will be higher for Jordan Love in 2024 and beyond now that we’ve seen how terrific he can be. Let’s examine their most
significant offseason.
It was Joe Barry’s time to go.
When it came to EPA allowed per play, the Packers ranked 23rd. If De’Vondre Campbell’s account is correct, head coach Matt LaFleur
publicly admitted that he was playing a bigger role on defense and that a defense leader was meeting with him in private to get him to
play more aggressively.
Campbell is also not returning, but it is difficult for a coach to return once he has betrayed the confidence of his team.
Without a question, the Packer team deserves praise for letting go of Berry. The only thing to wonder is if they made the right choice in
hiring Jeff Hafley.
Given how Barry’s tenure ended, that’s as strong an endorsement as the Packers could hope for. Although it sounds like a nice hire, a
veteran NFL coordinator or head coach would be a little closer to a sure thing.
