TORONTO: The Toronto Blue Jays and infielder Justin Turner have reached an agreement on a $13 million, one-year contract, a
source with knowledge of the negotiations told The Associated Press.
The 39-year-old’s agreement was contingent upon a satisfactory physical examination, which is why the individual spoke on condition
of anonymity on Tuesday.
Turner had a.800 OPS, 23 home runs, 96 RBIs, and a.276 average with the Boston Red Sox in the previous season. The Los Angeles
Dodgers were where the two-time All-Star played for nine seasons prior.
Toronto, a club that had trouble scoring last year, has been keen to increase its offensive output. Last season, he played 41 games in
the infield and 98 times as a designated hitter. Matt Chapman, a free agent, was Toronto’s third baseman in the previous year.
Turner won a World Series in 2020 and shared the MVP award for the 2017 NL Championship Series. After 15 seasons with the Red
Sox (2009–10), the Dodgers (2014–22), the New York Mets (2010–13), and Baltimore (2009–10), he is a.288 hitter with 187 home
runs and 759 RBIs.

When Justin Turner selects his next squad, the crowd responds.
The whole winter, the Toronto Blue Jays have attempted to create a major impression.
They went for Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Shohei Ohtani among other elite players, but they were unsuccessful.
Subsequently, they signed Kevin Kiermaier again and signed Yariel Rodriguez and Isiah Kiner-Falefa as free agents.
Even so, they needed additional punch in their squad after losing Matt Chapman.
On Tuesday, they boosted their punch with the addition of 39-year-old brute Justin Turner.
The league’s official website tweeted, “Blue Jays and Justin Turner reportedly agree to a 1-year deal, per MLB.com’s @JonMorosi.”
Naturally, fans didn’t take the news well and responded on Twitter.
