Three Red Bull engineers who collaborated closely on the all-conquering RB20 are reportedly targets for Ferrari.
Red Bull’s growing supremacy was demonstrated at the F1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix by Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, who
repeated their Bahrain results from a week earlier, finishing first and second.
However, the Italian media is adamant that Ferrari is attempting to draw in key behind-the-scenes personnel by using Red Bull’s off-
track issues.
According to a Gazzetta story, Pierre Wache, the technical director of Red Bull and Adrian Newey’s right-hand man, works closely with
the three engineers.
Additionally, according to Corriere, Ferrari “tried to approach Wache on several occasions, most recently last year.”
By early 2025, it is anticipated that every F1 team will be concentrating their development efforts on the revised 2026 regulations.
Although Lewis Hamilton will be switching from Mercedes to Ferrari for the upcoming season, the Italian team is already planning
ahead.
They may hire quickly in order to get their new employees on board by 2026, given the infamously lengthy “gardening leave” durations
associated with important engineers.
In a senior capacity, Loic Serra has already joined Fred Vasseur’s squad from Mercedes.
Prior attempts by Ferrari to entice Newey from Red Bull had failed.
According to Corriere, Red Bull may take a different tack in light of the current turmoil there.
The Italian press dubbed the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix “the beginning of the hunt for Adrian Newey.”
According to reports, Newey’s future is “not tied” to Max Verstappen’s.
The “climate of tension” at Red Bull Racing wears down the genius behind the team’s successful F1 car.
Working on F1 cars, road cars, endurance vehicles, and now boats—a hobby of Newey’s—may be possible with Ferrari.
According to reports, Newey may also find their hierarchy’s more “flexible structure” intriguing.
