Brian Gill is expected to leave Tottenham Hotspur this month and could leave permanently if new reports are to be believed, but Leeds United just need to take advantage of his bargain price.
Gil, 22, returned to Tottenham after a second loan spell with his boyhood club Sevilla in the summer.
However, he wasn’t good enough to secure a starting spot under coach Ange Postecoglou.
He’s still on the precipice.
The Spaniard has only played nine games in the Premier League this season, starting just two of them.
He needs another move after a move to Spurs three years later clearly didn’t work out.
Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo reported that Spurs are demanding a £7 million transfer fee for Gil this month to ease their attacking burden.
It’s a bargain for a player with huge potential who needs a new long-term project elsewhere.
He needs to join a club where he can play with flair and expression in an attacking team, where he can shine with confidence.
In the meantime, we need 10 because we didn’t get 10 last summer.
With a bargain price of £7m looming, Leeds should target Brian Gill.
Nadiem Amiri and Matt O’Reilly were targeted, but both pursuits were unsuccessful.
Instead, Leeds used striker Joel Pillow as number 10.
Georginio Luther recently took over the role replacing Patrick Bamford.
Gill has been primarily used as a winger, but he can also play on the wing or as a number 10 and is a brilliant attacking talent.
Leeds and Spurs also have a strong partnership, which could help lead to a deal.
Greter Steinsson swapped Spurs and Leeds’ transfer department in the summer, with Leeds subsequently signing Joe Rodon and Jed Spence, with Spence returning to sign Ben Davies.
If Gill is available for just £7 million, Leeds must seize the opportunity to bring him to the club.
The last time we included a Spaniard in our midfield attack, it worked out really well.
