According to insiders who spoke with Football Insider, the contract Aston Villa has with Adidas for their shirt maker is three times
more than their prior agreement with Castore.
Villa has reportedly severed ties with Castore in favor of a long-term agreement with German manufacturer Adidas, as reported by The
Telegraph.
Although Villa’s sponsorship money from Castore was only around £4 million each season, reliable sources claim that their
Sponsorship earnings from Adidas will treble to nearly £12 million per season.
In September, Football Insider disclosed that Villa, incensed by their “wet-look design,” were searching for a way out of their Castore
arrangement.
The men’s and women’s teams at Villa complained about design issues in the 2023–24 uniform that were impacting their
performances. The kit was created by Castore.
The Birmingham-based club and Castore inked a multi-year contract in 2022, but many of its commercial staff believed the sum was
too small for them.
Villa joins Fulham, Nottingham Forest, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Newcastle United as the sixth Premier League team to
collaborate with Adidas.
In August, Football Insider said that Newcastle and Adidas had a contract worth between £25 and £30 million annually.
In order to reach an arrangement with Adidas, the Tyneside team also made the decision to sever ties with Castore.
Villa’s new Adidas partnership is expected to significantly increase their £30 million in commercial revenue from 2021–2022.
Adidas is scheduled to debut their first jerseys for the 2024–2025 campaign, but Unai Emery’s team will stick wearing Castore shirts
for the rest of 2023–2024.
