Tottenham is expected to compete with Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea for the acquisition of highly-
regarded winger Nico Williams.
Since making his debut for Athletic Bilbao three years ago, the 21-year-old has established himself as a vital member of the squad. This
season, he has six goals and 12 assists in all competitions.
Williams led Athletic to the Copa del Rey final, showing off all of his skills as the Spaniard defeated Atletico Madrid 3-0 in the second
leg, scoring a goal and providing an assist.
Arsenal and Chelsea have taken notice of his achievements thus far, and according to the Mirror, Tottenham is preparing a summer
bid for the winger as well.
Even though Williams only agreed to a three-year contract extension in December, his release clause is still only worth £43 million.
In order to give Brennan Johnson and Heung-Min Son competition and depth, Spurs are reportedly eager to seek wide offensive
reinforcement during the summer transfer window.
The loan agreement between Ange Postecoglou’s team and former Chelsea forward Timo Werner, who has scored twice in his past two
outings, includes a £15 million buyout option.
Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace and Pedro Neto of Wolves are reportedly targets for the north London team.
Arsenal, on the other hand, will need to consider their ambition to add a striker and central midfielder in the summer when evaluating
any bid for Williams.
Ivan Toney is still being connected to Mikel Arteta’s team, and in midfield, they have long admired Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi,
who has a €60 million (£51.2 million) release clause.
Even though Clearlake Capital and Todd Boehly have spent over £1 billion on new hires, Chelsea still plans to add additional players in
the summer.
After it was revealed that the team had lost £90.1 million before taxes in the year ending June 30, 2023, the club might need to
exercise caution while making summer investments.
