According to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi, infielder Isaac Paredes of the Tampa Bay Rays is a target for the Toronto
Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners.
“This week, keep an eye on Isaac Paredes’ name on the trade market. The Rays will consider him as he is eligible for
arbitration. Among other teams, the Mariners and Blue Jays are interested in him, according to a tweet from Morosi
on Sunday.
Just concluded was Isaac Paredes’ fourth big league season. From 2020 to 2021, he played for the Detroit Tigers
during his first two seasons.
On April 4, 2022, the Tigers acquired outfielder Austin Meadows from the Rays in exchange for Paredes and a draft
selection. Paredes had multi-home run outings in his first three months after being acquired from Detroit, including
against the Tigers and the Yankees.
Paredes, 24, just finished his greatest big league season. Despite hitting.250, he had 98 RBIs and 31 home runs. 2023
saw the Rays win 99 games thanks in large part to Isaac Paredes.
The Toronto infield, which already features shortstop Bo Bichette and first baseman Vladimir Guerrero, Jr., will get
firepower if the Blue Jays acquire Isaac Paredes. Paredes is an infielder with versatility who can play third base, first
base, and second base.
Conversely, Paredes will strengthen the Mariners’ infield. In light of Eugenio Suarez’s recent trade to the Arizona
Diamondbacks, he will offer depth.
Despite winning 88 games, the Mariners missed the postseason for the second consecutive season. They will be a
major player in the AL West pennant race against the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers in 2024. If the Mariners
sign Isaac Paredes, can he fill in for Eugenio Suarez? Let’s observe and wait.
