Detroit Lions sign a free agent Alualu Tyson
NT Tyson Alualu, a free agent, has signed with the Detroit Lions, according to his agent Kenny Zuckermam. The
Jacksonville Jaguars selected Alualu, who is currently 36 years old, in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He
played football at the University of California while a student-athlete. He participated in 17 games for the Pittsburgh
Steelers in 2022. He recorded 13 tackles and 0.5 sacks in those games.
The Reason It Matters
The Lions made a pretty intriguing move that may indicate a few things about future roster changes. Is it possible
that the Lions intend to add Alim McNeill to the list of injured reserve players? Is it possible that they intend to
bench Isaiah Buggs? We don’t currently know the answers to those questions, but we might find out today.
In summary
Tyson Alualu, an experienced nose tackle, was signed by the Detroit Lions in a calculated move that might have a big
impact on their defensive line-up. Alualu has demonstrated his potential usefulness to the Lions with his experience
and recent play with the Steelers. The team’s roster may be altered soon as a result of this purchase, perhaps
jeopardizing the careers of players like Isaiah Buggs and Alim McNeill. It should soon become apparent how this
deal will affect the Lions’ defensive scheme and personnel in its entirety.
