JUST IN: “A better opportunity,” as the father of the £4 million celebrity clarifies……

Sydney van Hooijdonk’s father seems to be shutting out a January transfer for the Bologna striker unless his Serie A employers can

first bring in a replacement, thus Celtic doesn’t seem likely to get him this month.

With little playing time in Italy and a permanent spot on the Bologna bench, the former Heerenveen star appeared to be hinting at a

mid-season move more than two months ago. Since then, Sydney van Hooijdonk has only started two of the team’s seven Serie A

games, leaving him well below Joshua Zirkzee, who is now in great form and highly regarded, in Thiago Motta’s hierarchy.

As a result, there is still conjecture about the broad-shouldered Dutchman and a possible £4 million transfer to Celtic. However, Van

In 92 games with Celtic in the 1990s, former Netherlands international Pierre van Hooijdonk scored 56 goals. After thirty years,

The 23-year-old, a master of the first-time finish, struck the mark 19 times while on a fantastic loan in the Eredivisie at Heerenveen

last season, but he has found it difficult to advance from the very

Brendan Rodgers has plans for January.

HITC is aware that Hearts forward Lawrence Shankland is a target for Celtic as well. Brendan Rodgers has only added Nicolas Kuhn

from Rapid Vienna thus far, but as Joe Hart’s contract is set to expire in the summer, a new goalkeeper is not completely out of the

question.

Hakon Valdimarsson, the Icelandic goalkeeper for Elfsborg and the current Goalkeeper of the Year in the Swedish league, is said to be

available for a low price of £2 million.
