JUST IN: The linebacker for the commander gets away with a misdemeanor…….

According to court documents submitted on Friday, linebacker Jamin Davis of the Washington Commanders avoided jail time for a

careless driving misdemeanor but had his license suspended for six months.

This Monday, the linebacker was scheduled to go on trial by jury in Loudoun County Circuit Court; however, his attorney, Mark Dycio,

worked out a settlement on Friday, avoiding lockup time. Davis was hit with a $2,500 fine in addition to $176 in court costs. He was

given a 180-day jail sentence, but he’s getting away with it all since it was suspended.

Washington Commanders: Is the linebacker position a weakness in 2022?

When Davis allegedly blitzed his McLaren at a whooping 114 miles per hour in a 45 zone in Loudoun County, Virginia—Commanders’

training territory—he was detained back on March 28, 2022. A couple of months later, he was rear-ended for careless driving and

received a 30-day jail sentence; nevertheless, he filed an appeal. Class 1 misdemeanors in Virginia have stiff penalties, with up to a

year in jail and a hefty $2,500 fine.

A agreement that would have allowed Davis to spend a maximum of eight days in the large house was on the table back in July.

However, Judge Stephen E. Sincavage found it too soft and slammed the brakes. A different plea for a minimum of four days was

denied by Judge James.

However, Davis has previous run-ins with the law. He was charged with reckless driving in December 2021 when it was stated that he

was speeding at 89 mph in a 65 mph zone, four days prior to the sad incident involving teammate DeShazor Everett, which resulted in

the death of his fiancée. That evening, Davis had been leading the group and rolling with them.

Having been selected by Washington in the first round of the 2021 draft, Davis has played in 36 games throughout his three seasons

with the Commanders. This spring, the team needs to consider his fifth-year option. In addition to recording three sacks, two forced

fumbles, four passes defensed, and eight tackles for loss, Davis had a good season last year.
