After spending the previous two weeks on the road, the Detroit Lions returned home to take on a Denver Broncos squad that was on the rise. The game was touted as a mentor facing off against his apprentice.

Dan Campbell believes that by modeling his coaching philosophy after the strategies of the Sean Payton-led New Orleans Saints, who were able to win a Super Bowl and enjoy postseason success, his squad will achieve comparable outcomes.

While Payton has witnessed his team’s fortunes turn around in Denver, Detroit’s third-year head coach has been dealing with some little instability as a result of the team’s careless play over the last several weeks.

The NFC North leaders, led by running back Joshmyr Gibbs, who was selected in the first round of the previous year’s draft, displayed their strong offense after 60 minutes of play.
