Although Justin Turner acknowledges that it’s difficult to see himself playing for a whole nation, he is eager to join the Toronto Blue
Jays.
In his first video conference since agreeing to a one-year, US$13 million contract with the Blue Jays, Turner spoke with reporters.
As a member of the Boston Red Sox, who play in the same division as the Blue Jays, he claims to have seen the team up close last
season and was impressed by their beginning pitching.
Although some of Toronto’s batters had a “down year” in 2023, he added that the team still has a lot of skill on offense.
The 39-year-old struck out.276 with 23 home runs and 96 runs batted in for the Red Sox in the previous campaign.

The potential effects of the most recent Blue Jays news on the remaining SF Giants offseason
Have the Toronto Blue Jays made their final winter moves? Sportsnet Canada’s Ben Nicholson-Smith says there’s a “good chance”
they’re done adding big names to the roster. What effect will this have on the SF Giants offseason?

There are multiple ways in which this could impact the Giants. During the winter, the Blue Jays signed Justin Turner and Isiah Kiner-
Falefa in addition to re-signing Kevin Kiermaier.
They also experienced the agony that Giants supporters are all too familiar with. In December, there was a brief period of time when
intense conjecture led one to believe Shohei Ohtani would be joining the Blue Jays. That proved to be untrue, though, as Ohtani signed
a contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers the next day. The “Arson Judge” incident occurred for the Giants during the previous winter.
It’s difficult to go from maybe signing Ohtani to acquiring three good players. Despite this, they managed to win 89 games in 2023,
and they will have a large portion of the same roster for this season. Potentially noteworthy replacements may include Matt Chapman
and Brandon Belt.
It’s likely that the Blue Jays are out on Belt after signing Turner. Belt is having a strong season, and there are rumors that the Texas
Rangers have given the 13-year veteran some thought.
The Blue Jays are probably no longer in the running for power hitter Jorge Soler as a result of Turner’s arrival. The right-handed hitter
was thought to have a chance to land in Toronto, but they no longer had room for him. However, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco
Chronicle reports that the Giants have apparently shown interest in Soler.
