After winning consecutive games in 2021 and 2022, the Arkansas Razorbacks regressed in 2023, finishing with a 4-8 record at the
bottom of the SEC West. However, Sam Pittman, the soon-to-be fifth-year head coach of Arkansas, is determined to see to it that the
Razorbacks go back to winning ways in 2024. First, Bobby Petrino, the former head coach of the Razorbacks who led Arkansas to
consecutive seasons with ten or more wins in 2010 and 2011, was hired to be Pittman’s offensive coordinator. The next major
movement came through the transfer portal, where Sam Pittman signed former Boise State quarterback Taylen Green, a significant
reward. Former Utah Utes running back Ja’Quinden Jackson also committed.
Ja’Quinden While most evaluators had predicted Jackson would eventually finish up as an impact defensive player in college, he
started his collegiate career as a quarterback, committing to Texas in 2020 before moving to Utah, where he would eventually convert
to running back. But Jackson proved to be a reliable #1 back for the Utes last season, leading the team in carries (161), running yards
(797), and rushing touchdowns (4).
The Razorbacks have a backfield combination in Taylen Green and Ja’Quinden Jackson that should help Bobby Petrino get out to a
fast start in his first season back in Fayetteville. In addition to Jackson’s strength as a rusher, Green—the MVP of the most recent
Mountain West Championship Game—has the ability to create opportunities on the ground. As Boise State’s starting quarterback for
two full seasons, Green amassed 1,024 yards and 19 touchdowns through the air.
