Following remarks made by his father, Jos Verstappen, that the team will “explode” if Christian Horner stays in charge, Verstappen
has found himself at the center of a rift between Horner and Red Bull Racing.
Since Red Bull GmbH cleared him of any wrongdoing on the eve of the Bahrain Grand Prix, the Englishman has gone through a
difficult time.
Since then, an email purporting to include proof from the externally overseen probe into the situation has been made public, however
questions remain over its authenticity.
Speaking out, Gerhard Berger—who is well-connected to Red Bull’s motorsport advisor Helmut Marko—said that Horner’s presence
would oust other important members from the team.
Max Verstappen is one of them; there are rumors that he may join Mercedes and take over Lewis Hamilton’s seat when the season
ends.
The triple world champion, however, made an effort to dispel those ideas by declaring he plans to finish out his contract, which expires
in 2028.
He declared, “That is always the intention of signing.”
We signed for this very long in order to get here.
Naturally, the car’s performance is the main concern, and with the new restrictions, it becomes rather uncertain starting in 2026.
But when I signed my contract, I was aware of that.
“I am also aware of Red Bull’s contributions to my professional life. Thus, since I truly enjoy working with this team, my objective is to
continue with them.
“There’s no reason to leave either, as long as they deliver.”
In recent days, the apparent disagreement between Jos Verstappen and Horner has taken center stage in the ongoing narrative.
After the Bahrain race, the two were seen chatting, but
Verstappen Junior is realistic even though he understands the value of having good relationships amongst all members of the squad.
He is also aware that his father’s remarks could be taken to be speaking for him.
“We communicate frequently. Regarding his relationship with his father, he remarked, “We’re a team.”
“It’s just my dad, Raymond [Vermeulen, Verstappen’s manager], and it will stay that way forever.
“I suppose he [Jos] might have thought that the team was about to “explode,” but in my opinion, it makes no difference which side you
are on.
Being on the opposing side would be strange for me as my father’s son.
Additionally, he proposed that the ongoing conflicts within the
“In that regard, I believe everyone is manly and respectful enough of one another.
“I haven’t always agreed with everything that has occurred in Formula One, either. And for that reason, it’s occasionally beneficial to
have a conversation about things.
You could decide to differ. That is occasionally also the case in relationships.
Jos Verstappen has been spending the days following the Bahrain Grand Prix with his kid, but he is not in Saudi Arabia this weekend
as he is competing in a rally.
It’s unclear to his kid whether Jos stands by his remarks.
Verstappen remarked, “I haven’t asked him that.”
However, based on my knowledge of him from my go-karting days, he was usually quite talkative.
He’s not lying, that much is true.
