REPORTED: Ferrari agree deal’ for Charles Leclerc replacement as…..

According to Italy’s Gazzetta dello Sport, Charles Leclerc has agreed to a hefty five-year contract deal with Ferrari, keeping him with

the team until the end of 2029.

Leclerc’s fifth season with Ferrari is coming to a close. After signing an extraordinary five-year contract extension at the conclusion of

his first season in red in 2019, he still has one year remaining on it.

He will enter his 11th season with the most renowned team in motorsports in five more years, matching Michael Schumacher’s record-

breaking stint at Maranello, which stretched from 1996 to 2006.

In return for his long-term commitment, Leclerc will reportedly treble his pay, with Gazzetta reporting that if he sees out the entire

period of his contract, his annual earnings will soar to around €50 million (A$82 million).

Leclerc’s new deal is rumored to have performance conditions that could let him leave the squad at the end of 2027.

This year, Leclerc and colleague Carlos Sainz made it clear that they wanted to guarantee their long-term positions at Ferrari before

the beginning of 2024, when their contracts would expire.

John Elkann, the president of Ferrari, stated during a parent firm Exor investor call that he anticipated both would “stay of course”

with the team after their current

Gazzetta also notes that Sainz has not yet closed a deal. Although few well-known celebrities will have contracts expiring in 2024,

Ferrari is apparently unwilling to offer him a longer term than a year at this time. Instead, they would prefer to reserve the opportunity

to test the driver market again the following year.

Leclerc is in “pole position” to lead the team to its upcoming title attempt, according to Elkann’s assessment from the previous year.

Although Sainz has previously denied the possibility of a pre-contract deal, the Spaniard has a lengthy history of being associated with

Sauber, where his former McLaren team principal Andreas Seidl is laying the groundwork for Audi’s complete takeover in 2026.
