Early on Wednesday morning, Rasual Butler, a former NBA player who spent time with the Spurs in the 2015–2016 season, and his
spouse, singer Leah LaBelle, perished in a car accident in California.
Butler lost control of his automobile and slammed into a retail plaza, flipping his car after slamming into a wall and a parking meter,
as first reported by TMZ Sports. At about 2:30 in the morning, police were called to the scene, and they are currently looking into what
caused the incident.
The 38-year-old Butler started his NBA career in 2002 with the Miami Heat. During the course of his 14-year career, he played for
eight different teams: the Washington Wizards, Los Angeles Clippers, Chicago Bulls, Toronto Raptors, Indiana Pacers, and New
Orleans Hornets.
R&B singer LaBelle was contracted to Epic Records and had an appearance on American Idol’s third season in 2004.
