Justin Shaffer, an offensive lineman with the Georgia Bulldogs, was released by the Atlanta Falcons. Shaffer was a member of the
Falcons practice squad for the previous two seasons, but he did not play for Atlanta in any regular-season games.
Shaffer can sign with the practice squad or active roster of another team as a free agent.
Shaffer was selected by Atlanta with the 190th pick in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Shaffer’s selection was the Falcons’ first
draft pick of a Georgia Bulldog in eleven years. John FitzPatrick, a tight end, was also selected by the Falcons in 2022. Charlie
Woerner, a former tight end for the Georgia Bulldogs, just inked a free agent contract with the Falcons, and FitzPatrick are still
members of the team.
Shaffer was selected to the AP and coaches’ All-SEC second teams after starting at left guard in each of Georgia’s 15 games during the
2021 college football season. A 6-foot-4, 330-pound guard is still trying to make a name for himself in the NFL by getting consistent
playing time.
