WHAT A SIGNING: Arizona has made an excellent trade

Wide receiver Andre Baccellia was re-signed by the Arizona Cardinals to their practice squad on Tuesday, the team

announced.

Despite suiting up for five games this season, the 5-foot-10 former Washington Husky has not yet been targeted. at

the Cardinals’ final game, a 24-10 victory over the Steelers at Pittsburgh, he made his final appearance.

In this season, Baccellia has been added to the practice squad four times. He has had two separate stints on the

active roster.

Baccellia participated in two preseason games and gained 77 yards on five receptions and nine targets. 21 yards was

the longest reception he made.

William Hooper, a cornerback who hasn’t played yet this season but has spent around three weeks on the practice

squad, was cut by the team in response.

Arizona Cardinals had a CFL-heavy practice

A plethora of CFL players, including punter Cody Grace of the Calgary Stampeders, receiver Samuel Emilus of the

Saskatchewan Roughriders, linebacker T.J. Brunson of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and receiver Tyreik

McAllister of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, participated in a workout on Tuesday with the Arizona Cardinals.

During his first CFL season in 2023, McAllister was a versatile weapon for the Ticats, logging 13 carries for 52 yards,

27 receptions for 364 yards and two touchdowns, 41 kickoff returns with an average yardage of 25.3 yards, 56 punt

returns with an average yardage of 10.8 yards, and seven field goal returns that were missed but resulted in 408

yards and one touchdown. In terms of all-purpose yards and kickoff return average, he led the league.

After being left off of the University of Charleston roster in the 2022 NFL Draft, the 25-year-old speedster was signed

by the Denver Broncos. Before joining the CFL, he was predominantly a running back.

In his second CFL season, Emilus had a breakout year for the Riders, hauling in 70 passes for 1,097 yards and six

scores. The 26-year-old Montreal native placed first among Canadian players and eighth overall in the league in

terms of receiving yardage. He was selected first overall out of Louisiana Tech University in the 2022 CFL Draft.

In 2023, Brunson played in six games with the Riders, recording nine stops on defense, seven on special teams, and

one forced fumble. The ultra-physical defender out of the University of South Carolina was selected by the New York

Giants in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He played for the team for two seasons, the second of which was

cut short due to an ACL tear he suffered in the preseason.

 

With Calgary this past season, Grace averaged 36.6 yards over a career-high 122 attempts to finish third in net

punting. In terms of gross punting, he was third with an average of 47.2 yards per attempt. The Australian native was

recognized as a 2022 CFL all-star and a 2021 West Division all-star.
