Bills’ “Curious” Decision on Wide Receiver Stefon Diggs Is Querying by Insiders

On December 23, the Buffalo Bills battled their way to a crucial victory over the Los Angeles Rams, despite the fact that standout wide out Stefon Diggs had minimal involvement.

In the 24-22 victory, the 30-year-old receiver had five receptions for just 29 yards despite being targeted eight times, which is a team best. Although Diggs’ output has been steadily declining over the past few weeks, an insider notes that the Pro Bowl receiver has been exhibiting an even more “curious” tendency in recent games.

Diggs was kept off the field for a longer period of time against the Chargers by the Bills than in previous games, as Jay Skurski of the Buffalo News pointed out.

“On Saturday, during the Bills’ 24-22 victory over the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium, Diggs only participated in 33 of 55 offensive snaps. That was equivalent to the amount that wide receiver Trent Sherfield Sr. played, or 60% of the offensive total, according to Skurski.

Diggs had fewer snaps than usual for the second straight game, which made Skurski wonder why the team was not using him more in the offense.

Diggs seemed shaken up on the opening play of the game, a wide receiver screen that was stopped for no gain, as Skurski pointed out. He left the field to be assessed by the team’s medical personnel, but he eventually came back.

Skurski questioned whether Diggs’ decreased snap total could be explained by an injury, but head coach Sean McDermott stated during the game that he didn’t think Diggs’ scare affected his playing time.

McDermott responded, “Not that I’m aware of,” when asked if Diggs’ injury had an impact on his snap total. “I haven’t talked about that with Nate (Breske), the head athletic trainer.” Not that I know of, although I do realize that he may have been in and out more frequently than usual.
