(WXYZ) — With their third consecutive Big Ten championship, the No. 2 Michigan Wolverines will probably make it
to the College Football Playoffs for the third consecutive season.

The Wolverines won the Big Ten Championship 26-0 over No. 16 Iowa.
Michigan’s defense held firm throughout the contest, and even though the Wolverines’ offense found it difficult to
score against Iowa’s defense, turnovers and special teams allowed them to do so.
Blake Corum added a touchdown late in the first quarter, but the Wolverines took the lead with a field goal. The
game finished the second quarter with both teams trading punts, and at halftime, the score was 10-0.
In the third quarter, after Michigan was unable to score again, the defense forced a turnover in Iowa’s goal zone,
which allowed Corum to rush for a 6-yard touchdown and put Michigan ahead 17-0.
After forcing punts and forcing Iowa to turn the ball over on downs, the Wolverines’ defense held firm, and at the
end of the third quarter, James Turner scored a 46-yard field goal to give Michigan a 20-0 lead.
Michigan had the ball in Iowa territory after the defense forced its third fumble of the game, but the Wolverines
opted for another Turner kick to take a 23-0 lead.
On Sunday afternoon, the final College Football Playoff rankings will be announced, and there’s a chance the
Wolverines will jump to the top. For the semifinal match, the team with the best seed gets to choose the location.
Nevertheless, No. 3 Washington defeated No. 5 Oregon in the PAC-12 Championship game, their second victory
against the Ducks this year, and they concluded the campaign with a 13-0 record.
The Sugar Bowl and the Rose Bowl will have events on New Year’s Day this year.
The last two times Michigan has gone to the College Football Playoff, things have not gone well. In 2021–22, No. 3
Georgia defeated No. 2 Michigan 34–11, and in the previous year, No. 3 TCU defeated No. 2 Michigan 51–45.
